Your First Visit

What to Expect During Your First Consultation:

Your appointment will take approximately 1 hour—that time is specifically reserved for you.  We’ll ask you to fill out the health questionnaire and insurance forms.

Then we will take photos of the face and teeth, and X-rays. Dr. Mullasseril reviews the X-rays and the pictures and takes a look inside your mouth or your child’s mouth. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. Dr. Mullasseril then discusses the problems, the different options for correcting them, the best time to start treatment and how long treatment will last. You will receive a thorough explanation, but you’ll have plenty of time to ask Dr. Mullasseril any additional questions you may have.

The treatment coordinator explains your financial options and works with you to develop an affordable payment plan to fit your lifestyle.  If you are ready to start treatment, we can begin treatment right away.  The whole consultation process is designed to be as comfortable and as easy as possible. It’s a chance for you to get to know us, and for us to get to know you and welcome you to our office.

You can be sure that everything we do in creating your specialized treatment plan is bringing you one step closer to a perfect smile. It is our goal to provide you with a great orthodontic experience. We look forward to seeing you at your consultation.

Active Orthodontics:

The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, etc.) usually takes about one to two hours, depending upon your particular treatment plan. You’ll then see us at regular intervals, usually every 6 weeks, for an adjustment, which takes 20 to 30 minutes. Our regular office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:10 AM to 5:30 PM. Patients are seen by appointment only. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency.

IMPORTANT: Missing regular scheduled appointments will extend your original treatment time. On average, every missed appointment will extend your treatment time by 4 weeks.

Retention:

The function of your retainers is to hold teeth in their proper positions after braces are removed. It is necessary to wear retainers in order to keep your teeth straight. You may have removable retainers or fixed (permanent) retainers.

After the braces have been removed, we will set up a retention program designed specifically for your needs and assist you in following through with that program. Our original treatment fee covers the cost of your initial retainers and follow-up care. Replacement retainers and broken retainers are subject to our standard retainer fee at that time.
